What is CHOI (DHI) Hair Transplantation?

CHOI (DHI) hair transplantation technique is one of the most commonly used methods. CHOI DHI (Direct Hair Implantation) is also known as pen technique. During the procedure, follicles are taken from the donor area using Choi pen and are implanted in the transplanted area.

The difference of DHI hair transplantation technique from the others is that channel opening and hair transplantation are performed at the same time. The collected hair follicles are placed in the CHOI pen. Thanks to the CHOI pen, both the channels are opened and the hair follicles are placed in the area to be transplanted at the same time.

• It may be difficult to provide hair angles since the channel opening and transplantation process is performed at the same time.
• Other follicles may be damaged when transplanted too frequently with DHI technique.

How Many Days Does DHI Hair Transplantation Take?

The duration of the hair transplantation can usually vary between 4 and 6 hours depending on the surgical transplantation method, the amount of hair to be transplanted and clinical policies. However, in general, the hair transplant procedure can be planned in one day.

What Are The Points To Be Considered Before DHI Hair Transplantation?

• Stop smoking and taking aspirin 7 days before, and drinking caffeine, green tea and alcohol 3 days before the operation.
• Stop drugs, stimulants and pleasure-inducing substances 7 days before the operation.

• You should arrange a resting period of 2-3 days following the operation.
• You should be on an empty stomach on the morning of the operation.
• Prefer the buttoned up shirt style clothes when coming to the operation.

What Are The Points To Be Considered After DHI Hair Transplantation?

• Be careful for one week after the hair transplant to not hit or rub your head.
• Do not consume cigarettes, alcohol, drugs, stimulants and pleasure-inducing substances for 7 days after the operation.
• Do not enter the hammam and sauna for 3 months.
• Do not swim in the pool or sea and do not sunbathe for 1 month after the operation.
• After the operation, medicines and lotions given by your physician should be used regularly and in accordance with the hours.
• The physician’s advice and recommendations should be followed and the special shampoo and care products should be used regularly after hair transplantation. Any external shampoo mustn’t be used.
• “Hair Transplantation Training Manual” describes in detail how to use the medicines, the details to be considered such as lying position, ice application and it is given to the patient after the operation.
