What is Forehead Lifting?

Forehead lift is an aesthetic surgery performed to remove wrinkles, sagging and lines in the forehead area. Thanks to Forehead Lift, the forehead becomes firmer, lifted and a younger appearance is obtained. In this way, wrinkles caused by aging are eliminated.

How is Forehead Lift Surgery Performed?

Forehead lift can be performed by two different techniques. It is performed with open surgery technique or endoscopic methods. In forehead lift surgery performed with the open surgery technique, a 5-7 cm incision is made on the forehead (usually through the hair). Excess skin is removed. Muscles and fat tissue are stretched and lifted upwards. In forehead lift surgery performed with endoscopic methods, 2-3 small incisions are made in the forehead area and cameras, called endoscopes, are inserted through these incisions. The purpose of the camera is to enable the surgery to be watched on the screen. The skin is lifted with surgical instruments and excess skin is removed. Afterwards, the muscle and fat tissues are stretched and the forehead is lifted up.

What are Forehead Lift Techniques?

Main techniques used in forehead lift procedure:

• Open Surgery Technique
• Endoscopic Methods

Open Surgery Technique: This technique is the most commonly used in forehead lift procedure. It gives more effective results because it allows more skin to be removed.

Endoscopic Methods: This technique is less invasive than open surgery. Postoperative recovery is shorter than the open surgical technique because the incisions are smaller. However, the results obtained with this technique may be less permanent than the open surgical technique.

How Long Does Forehead Lift Procedure Take?

Forehead lift procedure usually takes 1-2 hours. It may be necessary to stay overnight in the hospital after the operation.

What Are The Points To Be Considered Before Forehead Lift Surgery?

• Before forehead lift surgery, you should inform your doctor about all your health information such as your chronic diseases, diseases you have had, genetic diseases and medications you use continuously.
• If you are using any medication such as blood thinners, you should definitely tell your doctor and you should stop such medications 1 week before the operation under the supervision of a doctor.
• Smoking and alcohol use should be stopped 7-8 days before the operation.

What Are The Points To Be Considered After Forehead Lift Surgery?

• Be careful to keep your head upright for the first 24 hours after surgery.
• Heavy lifting should be avoided for the first 1 week after surgery.
• After the operation, the medicines prescribed by your doctor should be used regularly.
• If your doctor deems appropriate, he/she may ask you to stay under observation in the hospital for 1 night.
• The operated area should not come into contact with water for 4-5 days.
• Smoking should be stopped or reduced for 15 days because nicotine slows down the healing process.
• Sports and exhausting activities should be avoided until your doctor tells you otherwise.
